Beyond Water makes liquid water enhancers, small portable bottles that you squeeze a few drops from into water, soda, tea, or coffee to add flavor and nutrients. Devang Singhania and his sister Shachi Singhania started the company in 2020 from Kolkata. Both studied at Babson College. Devang manages the family tea estates there, and Shachi had worked as creative head at Greenply Industries before this. The product is zero-calorie and sweetened with stevia instead of sugar, aimed at people who don’t drink enough water because plain water doesn’t compete well against flavored alternatives.

The Pitch
The ask was ₹75 lakhs for 4% equity at ₹18.75 crore valuation. Monthly sales at the time were ₹12 lakhs. Each bottle retailed at ₹300 and made 24 servings, with flavors like Lemon Mint, Mango Peach, and Ginger Lime. There was no prior institutional funding.
The pitch was built around India’s hydration gap. Most urban Indians drink far less water than the recommended daily amount, and the founders argued the reason isn’t willpower. Plain water loses to sweetened drinks on taste, and most people reach for something flavored instead. A zero-calorie pocket-sized enhancer, they said, removed that tradeoff without the sugar or calories.
What the Sharks Said
Ashneer Grover dismissed the product as a gimmick and said he didn’t see it working in India. Three sharks stepped out without making offers.
Two stayed: Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta. They offered ₹75 lakhs jointly for a 20% stake. Devang countered at 10%. Aman declined. They went back and forth and settled at 15%. The deal closed at ₹75 lakhs for 15% equity between the two sharks, bringing the effective valuation to ₹5 crore, down from the founders’ original ₹18.75 crore ask.
What Happened After
After the show, Beyond Water added cocktail mixers, vitamin drops, garnishes, and iced teas to its product range. Namita worked with the founders on the nutritional profile; Aman focused on distribution and scale. In October 2023, the company launched its first ready-to-drink iced tea product.
Annual revenue was ₹2.5 crore as of March 2023. The founders said they were in talks with distributors in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and planned to enter mass-market retail in India through 2024.
